Wishing Factory
/ My Ritual /
I am making my own shrine, a factory built of shredded documents which recycles your desires into small objects you can take away with you.
In Japan, there are thousands of shrines, places where people can make offerings to the spirits which inhabit all the things which envelop every aspect of life. There are shrines for rivers and trees and rocks and street crossings. for fishermen and travelers and the sick and those seeking knowledge and for healthy babies and broken dolls, dead cats and even penises, anything which is important for anyone, anything whose spirits need to be recognized has a shrine where rituals are repeated, and offerings are made.
I miss this culture of small rituals and thousands of repeated actions which identify the characters who participate in the drama of our everyday experience.
"make a wish , take a wish"
Welcome to the Wish Factory.
To make a wish, you write it on a piece of paper, and put the paper in the black spirit-mouth.
Your wish wish will be transformed (recycled) into a guru-guru (good luck charm) for someone else.
For your wish to take effect you must become the custodian of someone else's wish. Please take a "guru-guru" containing someone else's wish and take good care of it.
Your happiness is entrusted in others as their's is in you.
