Food for Novelists
Table setting
On May 11, 2005 I was invited to feed the novelists in Flux
Factory's show Novel. Three novelists
are living in the gallery space for a month, with no distractions,
their goal is to finish a novel, but they need food for thought.
As each of these Novelists is living in their own specially
constructed container, I felt it would be nice to present them with
food, each in its own container.
Menu
I decided to use newpapers as place mats as the only connection to
the rest of the world. They felt that eating on the New York Times was
appropriate.
The Menu as written on the kitchen paper napkins:
Menu: May 11, 2005
Appetizer: Red Jacket Orchard Fuji Apple Juice
Tropicana Pure Premium Orange Juice
Main: Natural by Nature Grass-Fed Whole Milk
Dessert: Bonne Maman Jam
Novelists
I used the contents of each container, as an
ingredient in the filling
Appetizer
Apple and Celery root cold soup
Orange, Carrot, vinegar (salad) sorbet.
Entree
Cod with tarragon in a bechamel sauce on a bed of
ramps
Desert
Almond and cacao muffin with raspberries and
rhubarb
